The controller you are using can play a big role in your performance as a gamer. Obviously that second image is a bit of an exaggeration, but it gets the point across. The way a gaming controller can affect actual gamplay range from something on the surface of the controller to a broken or malfunctioning part of it. Sometimes you can use external controller modifications to give you the advantage in a game and here is how:
If you play a lot of first person shooting games you should know that many of them cuase a vibration inside of the controller when you take damage or fire a weapon. Your brain will become used to this over a long period of time. When it gets used to this Vibration-feedback it will grow a connection between firing the gun in the game, and the vibration. When the mechanism that causes them eventually wears itself down to the point where it stops functioning you will react to it one way or another. Some people will completely ignore it, some people will enjoy the change, and some might be completely lost. It is important to have the controller function in the same way at all times.
External interferences like a stickiness, a grease, or some other slipperiness can greatly affect the way you control your character. Sliperiness can cause unintended button presses, which could mean your failure during a game. Stickiness could cause a button to stick, which will obviously cause some type of problem. To avoid interferencesforeign substances keep the controller clean, avoid touching it when your hands may have something on them, and don’t touch it immediately after or during eating. Some of the worst substances that can get onto your controller and cause these problems are foods like bacon, chicken wings, or any other high-grease foods.
However sometimes it can be helpful to have a modification to your controller. (Completely fake example) Lets say you are in a shooting game and for whatever reason you have been granted unlimited ammunition. You no longer have to worry about taking your finger off the button but you are still holding it… You could apply some temporary modification to the trigger or whatever button you are using to completely eliminate the need of wasting a finger on the button.
